Thanksgiving + Free Printables

I know that school just started, and summer is not officially over yet, especially here in AZ where the temps are still well over 100!  But, I have already started to get a little excited about the upcoming holiday season.  I found these totally by accident, but fell in love right away, and will be using them on my own dessert table this year.  So many ideas...and so little time! I hope you can use them too, have fun!  The link for all of the fabulous ideas are listed on this awesome little blog.

Elegant Fuchsia + Gold + White Bridal Shower

I had the honor of designing a dessert table for Nina Spitzer, the President of Celiac Disease Foundation Greater Phoenix Chapter.  This delicious combination of desserts, all gluten free, was custom designed for her daughter Michelle's Bridal Shower.  This lovely, elegant party was hosted at The Westin Kierland Resort.  This gorgeous location provided a cool oasis for the girls to hang out in the morning, in a pool cabana.  Later in the afternoon, the party got started, and here are just a few pictures.  Thanks to Nina for being the photographer for the day as well!

The cake was designed with ruffled fondant layers tipped in gold luster, with a row of pearls and fuchsia hydrangeas with pearl centers  Gluten Free Oreo Cookies, Pink Meringues, and White Chocolate Eggs were featured in a theme of "Making a marriage work...morning, noon and night.

Lemon Ice Box Tarts were served in a clear egg carton and topped with little pink sugar blooms.  The Gluten Free crust has a thin layer of delicious home made lemon Curd in the bottom before and huge helping of Lemon Chiffon.

Dark Chocolate Ganache covered bite size Gluten Free Petit Fours topped with more pink sugar flowers.

Fuchsia Orchid arrangements by Elba Brown, Designs by E, were created for the bride-to-be, to match the flowers on her wedding invitation. Pink gladiolas in black vases were placed on the gold embroidered linens.

Last, but not least, the review by the Mother of the Bride:

I just want to share that my daughter friends threw her a bridal shower this
past Saturday. Original, I agreed to bring the cake (gf, of course). Then, I
got lazy and figured...Why not give my daughter, her friends (and me too) a real
treat and have Angela Saban prepare the cake. Well, one thing led to another
and before you know it...I had hired our gals Angela Saban (fantastic gf cakes)
and Elba Brown (gorgeous floral designs) to, instead, take care of a dessert
table. AND-Oh my, what an amazing treat that was. What they came up with was
beyond my expectations!

These gals decorated the table and room to high class perfection. Beautiful
loose and vased tiny orchids and other pink and fuchsia flowers were all over,
including atop the cake. The Japanese style main floral arrangement was
breathtaking. (The flowers were, of course, all gf, but we had no desire to eat
them!) The tablecloths and candles they brought added even more elegance to the
setting. Then...the desserts! Oyyyyy! Angela's 3 layer gf cake was gorgeous-but
more than gorgeous, it was way delicious! Her dessert table also included lemon
tarts, chocolate cookie sandwiches, chocolate frosted cakes-bites and sugar
pink flowers. It made me smile that everyone there raved about the
cake/desserts and didn't even realize they were gluten-free.

I would highly recommend this team the next time you're planning an event, small
or big. You'll be more than thrilled with the results. I do want to mention
that I have no financial ties to these two businesses....I just love spreading
the word about good gf stuff! BTW: Here's Angela's site and you can email me
privately if you'd like to see a picture of the cake and/or flowers (remember,
our listserv doesn't allow attachments). http://www.angelasabandesign.com/

BTW: I'm also proud to say that these two talented ladies are members of our

Angel Cakes Gluten Free Bakery + New Website

It's official, Angel Cakes Gluten Free Bakery now has it's own website.  You can still order through Etsy and pay with Pay Pal, or call with your order.  The Birthday cake requests just keep coming, and I have discovered a very popular design for guys and gals alike.

The stripe seems to appeal to everyone, and you can put your real age on top, or pick the age you "wish" you were!  Either way, the colors can be changed and flowers are optional.  This is an easy choice and is a fun cake that is 8" x 4 layers filled with your favorite fillings like, strawberries,  fresh lemon curd, peaches, bananas, nuts, or ganache, and then topped off with light as a feather Meringue Butter Cream in your favorite flavor. All gluten free (can also be Casein Free, or Vegan, or even rice free).  The best cake you'll ever eat, and no one will know it's gluten free.  made especially for you in a gluten free home bakery.  Delivered to your door on the day of your party.  Go ahead, you deserve it, gluten free should include a decadent Birthday cake to be shared with everyone you love.

Labor Day + Design the Day Inspiration

I am having a hard time believing that Labor Day is just around the corner.  But, it's almost here and my only thought is of cooler nights, and hopefully cooler days as well.  I've decided to offer red, white, and blue cake balls like these for the holiday...they will be so much fun for a BBQ on the patio.  Easy to handle for the kids, and a big mouthful of decadence, with no crumbs!  Take them to a party, or offer them as a hostess gift for the lucky lady that is hosting this year's labor Day festivities.  She'll love you for it, and maybe she'll share.  No matter how you are spending it, have fun, and enjoy the last holiday before Thanksgiving...and speaking of that, I am already planning all of the warm, spiced and wonderful dessert choices.
